How to fill it in
- Write each trip at the time, or at least weekly. Records made at or near the time carry the most weight.
- Date, start and destination. A street address or a client name and town is fine.
- Business purpose. "Showing at 14 Oak Lane" beats "work".
- Odometer start and end, or the trip miles from your map app.
- Total the year. Note your odometer on January 1 and December 31; your total miles show your business share.
Or let your phone keep it. Steadymile fills in every column on its own: dates, places and route miles, from the moment you start driving. You add the purpose with a swipe.
